HORUS reentry

HORUS Reentry is a reentry estimation and assessment module within the HORUS Platform, developed by SAIPHER, a Strategic Defense Company (SDC). The module is designed to provide information regarding the predicted location, time window, and potential risks associated with the atmospheric reentry of space objects, supporting decision-making and risk mitigation activities related to space object decay and reentry events. HORUS Reentry enables the estimation of when and where an object may reenter the Earth's atmosphere within a user-defined time window and geographic area through preliminary assessments based on Two-Line Element (TLE) orbital data and associated propagation models. Due to the inherent limitations and uncertainties of TLE-based propagation, the initial estimates do not provide high-precision predictions. The module includes an operational interface that allows users to visualize upcoming reentry events within a selected region of interest, together with associated event parameters and risk-related information. Users may access detailed event data, including estimated reentry coordinates, predicted time windows, orbital parameters, and graphical visualization of projected reentry locations through an integrated map interface.
Integrated with HORUS Dominus and HORUS Tracking, the module enables interoperability between surveillance, tracking, and reentry assessment capabilities. For scenarios requiring higher estimation accuracy, users may submit dedicated tracking requests directly from the reentry assessment environment to refine orbital solutions and improve reentry estimation accuracy without relying on third-party systems or external software. However, the execution of tracking operations and the resulting improvement in estimation accuracy depend on operational availability, sensor visibility conditions, observation opportunities, and the capability to effectively track the object during the requested period.
The module is intended for government organizations, defense institutions, civil protection agencies, and other entities requiring reentry risk assessment capabilities to support airspace monitoring and operational safety activities.

Earth from Space

Target Market

Government organizations responsible for airspace defense, as well as entities requiring capabilities for space object reentry risk assessment and operational safety support.

Features

HORUS Reentry can be deployed either in cloud environments or within SAIPHER’s physical infrastructure and is capable of receiving data from multiple external systems to populate its database. The module may operate using data provided by SAIPHER’s own sensor network as well as by partner organizations and third-party providers. Using Two-Line Element (TLE) data and associated propagation models, the system generates preliminary estimation and assessment of reentry time and location, which are presented through the operational interface. For scenarios requiring higher estimation accuracy, users may request dedicated tracking operations through HORUS Dominus to refine orbital solutions and improve reentry predictions.

HORUS Reentry is integrated with HORUS Dominus and HORUS Tracking, enabling seamless interoperability between reentry tracking capabilities and assessment. This integration allows users to request dedicated tracking operations directly from the reentry assessment environment, facilitating the acquisition of more accurate orbital and reentry information without relying on third-party software solutions.
