Saipher ATC participates in the 1st Urban Air Mobility Forum

In March, representatives of regulatory bodies, industry, airlines, and representative entities of the aviation sector met for the 1st Urban Air Mobility Forum in São Paulo. The event was hosted by the Southeast Regional Airspace Control Center (CRCEA-SE), in support of the Operations Subdepartment (SDOP), of the Airspace Control Department (DECEA).

During the Forum, information was presented on the concept of urban air mobility in Brazil and initiatives aimed at introducing the new eVTOL (Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) electric aircraft. Among the participants were representatives of the Brazilian Association of Helicopter Pilots (ABRAPHE), ATECH, Azul Linhas Aéreas, the company EVE, EMBRAER, Gol Linhas Aéreas, the Instituto de Controle do Espaço Aéreo (ICEA), as well as academics from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) and Saipher ATC and other professionals.

At the opening of the work, the commander of CRCEA-SE, Aviator Colonel Chrystian Ciccacio, highlighted the participation of DECEA representatives in working groups and international panels that carry out the activities of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Afterward, Aviator Captain Jean Pierre de Castro Benevides, deputy of the Unmanned Aircraft System Planning Section, spoke about the SIRIUS Brazil Program, which brings together essential transformations in communication, navigation, surveillance, and air traffic management in Brazil.

In another critical stage of the Forum, the lecture cycle was held in two periods. Information under different approaches was presented by the following experts: Captain Márcio André da Silva, Specialist in Air Traffic Control and manager of the UAM Project at DECEA, Agenir de Carvalho Dias, representative of ATECH, José Carlos Yoshio Furuzawa and José Alexandre T. Guerreiro Fregnani, from EMBRAER, Fábio Campos, advisor for Institutional Relations at Azul Linhas Aéreas and José Airton Patrício, Captain of the FAB Reserve, from ATECH.

In addition to the explanations mentioned above, the Senior Consultant for Safety and Flight Operations at Gol Linhas Aéreas, Sérgio Quito, presented the eVTOL from the company Vertical Aerospace, which is being produced in the United Kingdom and will be introduced in Brazil in a few years.

In his talk, Saipher ATC's Director of Innovation and New Business, Brigadeiro do Ar R1 José Vagner Vital, spoke about the TATIC A-CDM, TATIC-FLOW, and TATIC HCP systems (in operation at the Congonhas tower since 2005), products used in air traffic control in Brazil today. "TATIC HCP is part of the TATIC®️ Suite Solution, developed by Saipher. Used to control helicopters in sectored areas, it simplifies and improves the flight controller's work using electronic strips. The system is in operation at Congonhas Airport to control the world's second-largest movement of helicopters, " highlighted Vital.
