Changes in Natal puts Saipher ATC in 100% of airports in Brazil

Updated: Jun 8, 2022

The tower of the International Airport of Natal, Governador Aluízio Alves, has just updated its system. The former NOVA 9000 EFS system gave way to TATIC 2.0 to modernize operations at the airfield. With this, the entire Brazilian territory now has Saipher ATC systems in the control towers in operation in the country. The change was foreseen in a contract signed with the Airspace Control System Implementation Commission (CISCEA).

In addition to the TATIC TWR installed in Natal, Saipher is also responsible for a range of solutions available in the TATIC Suite, a robust set of systems made up of integrated modules for use in the most diverse planning sectors, management, and air traffic control. Saipher ATC products are premised on guaranteeing veracity and efficiency in exchanging information so that it is reliable and available to all users of the Brazilian Airspace Control System (SISCEAB).

According to Saipher ATC Business Manager Jones Brandão, implementing TATIC 2.0 and being an upgrade for Natal International Airport improves communication with SISCEAB. “The change means a lot to us as our systems are now operating at all airfields in the country. We are aware of the great responsibility that this represents, which is a reason for great satisfaction for the entire team”.

About the TATIC TWR

Saipher ATC developed the TATIC TWR for the operation and management of Electronic Flight Progress Strip (EFPS) based control towers. Among its primary purposes are the assistance to the air traffic controller in the organization of local traffic, the storage of relevant operational information for use at a local or global level, and the integration of data with own or third-party systems to assist in collaborative decision making.

At international airfields

Operating at Natal International Airport, the TATIC TWR has been operating at São Paulo International Airport, in Guarulhos, since 1998. It serves different positions in the control tower for medium and heavy traffic. In addition to Natal and São Paulo, it is also operating in Rio de Janeiro, (RIOGaleão – Tom Jobim Airport), in Belo Horizonte, (Tancredo Neves International Airport - Confins), Curitiba (Afonso Pena International Airport), Salvador (Dep. Luís Eduardo Magalhães), Manaus (Eduardo Gomes International Airport), Brasília (President Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport), Goiânia (Santa Genoveva) among others.

Benefits of the TATIC TWR system

• Significantly reduced flight controller workload.

• Significant increase in productivity.

• Greater operational traffic safety.

• Comprehensive database that enables information in statistics, billing, research, incident investigations, planning, and administration.

• Quality of stored data makes it possible to use it for traffic flow management.

• Provision of relevant and real-time information.

• Improved coordination, management, and traffic forecasting between the agencies involved.

• Native intelligent system enables the generation of relevant alerts during the evolution of traffic, significantly contributing to the expansion of operational safety.

• Operationally ready to provide DCL (Data Link Clearance Delivery) without operating with parallel systems.
