Latam increases national flights by 50% from August
The number of trips will double compared to July,
despite still being below the same period in 2019
Latam Brasil announced that it intends to increase the number of domestic flights by 50% between August and September this year. The airline plans to increase the number of trips per day to 244, well below the 750 daily flights operated in 2019, but above the July average, 110. It reflects the increase in demand, "although shy," after a falling due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Latam Brasil.
The company intends to strengthen its operations in Guarulhos, in São Paulo, which will serve 300 cities, with the addition of 37 destinations; and Brasília, with connections to 200 cities and 28 more destinations. In addition to resuming national routes, Latam informs that the new flights will connect Cumbica airport to the company's international network, with destinations such as Lima, New York, Mexico, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Asuncion, Lisbon, Madrid, Frankfurt, and London, among others.
"At the same time as we continue our financial restructuring and guarantee the commitment of access to more than R $ 12 billion by DIP (debtor-in-possession), without the help of governments so far, Latam Brasil accelerates again and increases its flight offer", commented in a note the CEO of the company in Brazil, Jerome Cadier.
In early July, Latam Brasil was part of the Latam Group's judicial reorganization process in the United States. It gave the company access to a $ 2.4 billion loan from the company's shareholders and Oaktree Capital Management.
